While the endless meals, drinks, and lounging are fantastic at first, by day three at the resort, the excitement fades. We needed a change of scenery and pace.

We weren’t the only ones feeling restless, and soon we heard talk of adventures outside the resort walls. On a whim, my partner and I hopped on a small excursion boat bound for Isla Mujeres—a charming island off the coast of Cancún, Mexico. With its vibrant local culture and laid-back tourist vibe, it felt like stepping into a whole new “choose-your-own-adventure.”

We rented a golf cart and explored the island from end to end, pausing whenever something caught our eye.
